Sermon: Sold Into Slavery - Genesis 37
He was daddy’s boy, but to his brothers Joseph was a royal pain. Jacob had twelve sons, but he made it abundantly clear that Joseph was his favorite. His brothers not only hated Joseph, they captured him and were going to murder him. But by the plan and providence of God, they decided to make a profit instead by selling him to a band of merchants who took Joseph to Egypt to sell him as a slave. Joseph never saw this coming, but once the pieces of betrayal fell in place, he was ready for the challenge of his life. We too can meet life's challenges in times of crisis by trusting God.
Series: Joseph - Trusting God In Turbulent Times
Life can be very unfair. Those who are supposed to love us hurt us. People break promises or even betray us. You do the right thing, but bad things keep happening. You just can’t get a break! Joseph, the great-grandson of Abraham, went through all this and more. He faced turbulent times throughout his life, yet in spite of them, and even because of them he grew in faith. Joseph sets a positive example in negative times. His life is filled with examples of how we can grow in faith in Jesus Christ as we go through a pandemic, but it is just as applicable in any time of hardship or crisis. In this series we will learn how faith and fruit can grow as we trust God in turbulent times.
