The Spiritual Battle

Summer Retreat 2019

July 12 – 14 • Pepperdine University • Malibu, CA

Do You See Life as Warfare?

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.  (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

How we view life determines how we live life. How well we are equipped to win spiritual battles is critical to our success in living an abundant life. Come join us for a weekend of training and restoration as we examine the spiritual battles that we face each day. Our keynote and workshop speakers will provide insight on what every Christian needs to identify Satan’s strongholds and live victoriously in Jesus Christ.

JOE YOSHIHARA

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Pastor Joe is the founding and lead pastor at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship which started in 1996 and holds worship services in Bellevue WA. He and his wife, Rita, have been joyfully married for 28 years and have 4 wonderful children (Matthew 25, Michelle 23, Kellie 21, and Kyle 18). Cornerstone has a daughter church (New Freedom Christian Community) that meets as a house church in Bellevue and an international church in Japan (Cornerstone Tokyo).

In addition to leading Cornerstone, Joe has had the privilege to train pastors in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Before entering vocational ministry, Joe was a CPA doing audit/taxes (public accounting), finance (aerospace), and finance/budgeting (city government). Joe enjoys playing basketball (but his body is breaking down), golf (but his swing is broken), and pool (because there aren’t enough pastors hanging out in bars). He also finds great joy in rubbing the tummy of their dog Toby, who by far is the family favorite!

Be STRENGTHENED by the LORD and HIS ARMOR to WRESTLE against the spiritual forces of evil in the spiritual realm and BEAR ARMS to STAND YOUR GROUND as we PREPARE for the DAY of EVIL.

Discover the abundant power of God available to all believers and what it means to be STRONG in the LORD’s mighty strength. Learn the purpose and reasoning why believers need to be strengthened by the LORD, the objective for how and why we must STAND OUR GROUND, and the importance of BEING PREPARED to face EVIL.

God’s Offense for the Spiritual Life

Speaker: Curtis Lowe

The Spiritual Battle is indeed a real war. Not only do we need to fight defensively (or we will certainly be defeated), we also must be well prepared to fight offensively so as to live the Spiritual Life God has made us to embrace. In this workshop we will see how God has promised us the Holy Spirit to empower us for living the best way, His way. We will learn how to maintain a walk with God’s Spirit as well as how to be continually filled with God!
